Statement: Voter Participation Center/Center for Voter Information Statement on National Voter Registration Day
Washington, D.C. – In honor of National Voter Registration Day, Tom Lopach, President and CEO of the Voter Participation Center (VPC) and Center for Voter Information (CVI), released the following statement:
“National Voter Registration Day is the perfect opportunity to make sure you are registered and ready to vote in the next election. Take today to check that you are registered at your current address and reach out to people you care about to remind them to check their own registration, update their registration if necessary, or register to vote if they aren’t already registered.
“At VPC and CVI, we are tirelessly working to ensure that every American can access the ballot box – and that starts with voter registration. That’s why we launched an ambitious effort to build enthusiasm around local and statewide elections across the country and are sending out 4.3 million Americans voter registration applications this month. So check your mailboxes, create your voting plan, and make your voices heard in the next election!”
The Voter Participation Center and Center for Voter Information are non-profit, non-partisan organizations founded in 2003 to help members of the New American Majority – unmarried women, people of color and young people – register and vote. Since then, the organizations have helped 5.7 million people register and cast ballots.
