Statement: Voter Participation Center/Center for Voter Information Urge New Mexicans to Vote in the Special Election for Congressional District 1

Washington, D.C. — Ahead of New Mexico’s special election for Congressional District 1 on June 1st, Tom Lopach, President and CEO of the non-profit and non-partisan Voter Participation Center (VPC) and Center for Voter Information (CVI) encourages New Mexicans to make their voices heard and get to the ballot box.

“Reminding all New Mexicans in Congressional District 1:  there is an important special election to elect your next Representative in Congress on June 1st,” said Tom Lopach. “Engaging in our democracy is easy. Make your plan to vote today – whether that’s early-in-person, absentee ballot, or in person on Election Day – and make certain your voice is heard.”

You can vote in-person on Election Day, Tuesday, June 1, or you can vote early in-person now, at locations designated by your county. Early voting is available until May 29. To find early voting locations and hours, contact your county clerk’s office: sos.state.nm.us/voting-and-elections/voter-information-portal/county-clerk-information.

The Voter Participation Center and Center for Voter Information are non-profit, non-partisan organizations founded in 2003 to help members of the New American Majority – unmarried women, people of color and young people – register and vote. Since then, the organizations have helped 5.7 million people register and cast ballots.
